Sports
The sun rose over the Metroplex Sporting Complex in Dhaka, signaling the start of the annual SJ-SMEC-ACE Sports Day. As an SMEC graduate engineer, I was excited to swap my daily tasks for a day of sports and camaraderie.
Cricket was the first event, filled with enthusiastic cheers and team spirit. Each run and wicket brought us together, celebrating small victories. Football followed, with intense sprints and last-minute saves, creating bonds stronger than any project collaboration. Even tic-tac-toe became a fierce competition, showing that even simple games can ignite our competitive sides.
The highlight of the day was the badminton tournament. With every smash and rally, I felt the excitement building. I managed to secure the Runner-Up position, which felt like a significant achievement. It wasn’t just about the medal; it was about perseverance and enjoying the game.
From morning to sunset, the complex buzzed with energy. We were more than engineers; we were teammates, competitors, and friends. The day’s activities reminded us of our shared spirit and camaraderie.
As the day ended, I left with tired legs, a happy heart, and a collection of wonderful memories. The experience reinforced that at SMEC, we’re not just colleagues; we’re a family. Here’s to many more days of sports, teamwork, and shared joy.
